Rwanda Tour Photos

As one could imagine, after 21 years of taking people around the globe with Zoom Vacations, we have amassed many travel photos. While we have beautiful pics showcasing destinations around the world, it is our gorilla safari pics that often earn the biggest "wow."

You are allowed to approach the gorillas at a distance of 30 feet, but if they approach you closer, you are to remain still. They almost always approach much closer. How close? Well, close enough that the portrait feature on the Iphone often works!

Featured Traveler, Ariel from San Juan,

Puerto Rico

We are fortunate that the most wonderful people take our tours, and Ariel was no exception. In addition to being a total sweetheart, this guy was always ready to laugh. Ariel took a break from his busy schedule of suntanning over the holidays in beautiful Puerto Rico to talk with us about the trip.

Zoom: What was your favorite part about the trip?

Ariel: The connections I made with other like-minded travelers and the overall experience of visiting a beautiful country with a magnificent group of people.

Zoom: What did you think of the food in Peru?

Ariel: The food was spectacular.  I got the opportunity to try one-of-a-kind dishes that you would normally not find anywhere else.  The traditional food as well, in upscale modern restaurants or more traditional settings was delicious.

Travel Like Your Mental Health Depends on it

According to a scientific brief released by the World Health Organization (WHO), global prevalence of anxiety and depression increased by 25% in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the full extent of repercussions remains to be seen. Nowadays it is more important than ever to be doing whatever we can to foster a healthy mental state for ourselves and those around us. It turns out that a partial solution is right at our fingertips: travel.

Travel has a number of benefits to our lives, and its benefits to our mental health cannot be understated. The following are 10 ways in which travel can be good for our mental health.

1. Vacations take your mind away from day-to-day routines and allow you to relax and recharge, and in some ways escape.

2. Travel is a wonderful platform for connecting with other people, including those who you know well, as well as with strangers. Feeling well-connected to other people promotes positive mental health, and physical health and gives life meaning. New research into human connection suggests that emotional conversations, support, positive vibes, and affirmations can all help to enhance our mental health.

3. Traveling for pleasure can contribute to subjective well-being because people have more opportunities to detach from their work environment, to experience new things, and to control what they want to do during vacations.

In Celebration of Safari

During the Covid Pandemic shut-down, at Zoom we often found ourselves daydreaming about travel, and the dream that kept coming up over and over was being on safari.  Bryan conducted a quick and casual interview with Joel recently to get at the heart of why a luxury safari is so captivating.

Bryan: What do you like about being on safari?

Joel: I love being pampered at the luxurious safari lodges where we stay, and equally love the unexpected wild animal experiences every day.  I have been on many safaris and they are never the same and never cease to amaze me.   There is always a new animal species I have never seen before and even the ones that I have seen many times, like elephants, always surprise and delight me with their spontaneous, in-the-moment, way of being.
