Through food as a medium, your guide will take you on a half-day exploration to learn about local history and heritage of Bangkok with the added bonus of sampling a delightful array of traditional and more modern treats along the way.

First we will visit the Silom neighborhood to find a glut of perpetually busy street market stands selling delicious freshly made dishes for approximately one US dollar each.

After surveying the busy morning street market, hop back in your air-conditioned vehicle for a 20-minute ride through the entertaining Chinatown district to reach a coconut ice cream shop set in a historic part of the old city.

Continue your investigation literally around the corner from the ice cream parlor and visit a famous mango & sticky rice shop. The shop, which has been in operation since 1932, also sells a range of popular Thai desserts.

Next, we head to the 200-year-old Nanglerng Market, one of the oldest and most significant bazaars in central Bangkok, and then to Bangkok’s world-famous Chatuchak Weekend Market (only open on Saturdays and Sundays), located at Chatuchak Park.  Nicknamed “JJ Market” by locals, the vast bazaar offers a staggering array of open-air stalls spread out over a huge area. Throughout the 27 acres of market, find vendors peddling a spectrum of merchandise from fruits, vegetables and household goods to fabrics, new and second-hand clothing, shoes, toys and taps cassettes to handicrafts, antiques, potted plants, pets of various species and army surplus goods. There is quite simply nothing that can’t be found at this mind-boggling market.

Once you have explored the market with your guide and sampled a variety of delicious exotic produce, begin the return journey to your hotel at 12:00.
